BOARD EXAMINATION VERSUS COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
Though the curriculum for board examination as well as competitive examination is the same, however the two are different in many ways. They mainly differ in the type of questions asked and the concepts application in the problems. The question in Board Exam are purely from NCERT books and straight forward. They just check the basic knowledge in chemistry, physics, mathematics and biology of a student. The paper would be made keeping in state of an average student in mind. The numerical section is about 30-35% only. The problems in competitive examinations are straight forward type (20%- 30%) & analysis-oriented type (70%-80%). So, most of the problems are based on concept give in books but still the problem will be new or an extension of the concept taught. The problems are made to pick a bright learner from an average leaner. The competitive examination can be cracked by:
(i) Regular following the advice of your subject teachers.
(ii) Consistently mastering the subject and understanding the concepts.
(iii) Solving numerical everyday and devising short-cuts to answer them.
(iv) Practicing of problems of all types, of a subject everyday.
(v) Analyze performance in each test.
(vi) Take mock test papers seriously.
BOARD INTEGRATION WITH INSTITUTE STUDIES
The survey conducted by most of the educational experts in last 7 years on top 100 rankers of IIT-JEE/NEET/BBA/BCA Entrance Exams, revealed that most of them had school integrated coaching. Along with school academics, they had effective coaching for IIT-JEE/NEET from reputed institutes. Currently, the selection pattern for JEE (Main)/JEE Advance/Medical Entrance has been changed drastically. The student cannot ignore the performance in board.
So, for an aspirant of IIT-JEE (MAINS & ADVANCE)/NEET, he should be successful both board exams and competitive exams. He/she cannot ignore any one of it. The goal of successful career should take flight on two strong wings-one is high scoring in Board exam and second is selection in competitive exams. This is why board teaching should be integrated with Competitive coaching to ensure bright and successful future of the students.
